Ekiti APC Stakeholders Forum picks Dayo Adeyeye for 2022 governorship

As the race for the 2022 governorship election gathers momentum in Ekiti State, a group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) tagged: “Ekiti APC Stakeholders Forum”, has endorsed the former Minister of Works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, as its preferred candidate for the governorship race.

The Forum, which consists of former National Assembly members, ex-ministers as well as other notable chieftains, said APC cannot afford to gamble ahead of the all-important election, hence the need to support Adeyeye.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Forum’s Secretary, Honourable Femi Adeleye said the decision to endorse Adeyeye was arrived at after three-day exhaustive consultations.

It described Adeyeye, who hails from Ise Ekiti, the Ekiti South Senatorial District, as the best man for the job on account of his past experiences as a Minister, Senator, party Spokesman and member of the defunct National Democratic Coalition (NADECO).

The Forum argued that Adeyeye’s candidacy would address a number of issues that had hitherto shaken the foundation of the party.

The group urged all APC members to rally support for Adeyeye and ensure he emerges during the primary election coming up in 2022.

Specifically, the Forum maintained that issues bordering on competence, leadership qualities and administrative acumen had been taken care of with Adeyeye’s choice.

“This was informed by a number of considerations, which include the current situation of the party, and the need to put a formidable candidate forward not only to face and defeat the People’s Democratic Party but can meet the yearnings of the Ekiti APC members and more importantly, the corporate aspiration of Ekiti people.

“Added to these credentials were his exploits as a member of NADECO, the foremost group that spearheaded the return to civil rule, he was a leading gubernatorial aspirant in 2018, former Chairman of SUBEB, Pro-Chancellor, Ekiti State University, former Minister of Works and a distinguished Senator.

“Above all, he is also a good family man with royal blood in his veins. And anyone that would govern Ekiti should demonstrate that by having an exemplary family background, which Senator Adeyeye possesses.”
