Ekiti APC Congress: Group accuses Fayemi of side-lining Segun Oni, Ojudu, Niyi Adebayo
In what appears like what is to expect in the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2018 election in Ekiti State, all the three delegates per local council that will take part in the next non-elective national convention of the party emerged from the camp of Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
The duo of Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party, Chief Segun Oni and Special Adviser (Political) to the President, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and former Governor Niyi Adebayo were completely sidelined.
A group in the Ekiti APC, Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation (AGF), in a letter of protest to the party’s national secretariat, dated July 30, 2017 said report on the congress that took place on Saturday, July 29, 2017 was forged.
The State Exco of the party however reacted in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the lean financial status of the party informed the decision to adopt a non-controversial list from the 16 local government areas.
The AGF letter was signed by the group State Coordinator, Hon Olukosi Muyiwa and National Coordinator, Adeleye Akintola reads; “We want to reiterate that such convention never takes place in Ekiti. The party leadership was never carried along nor other leaders like the National Deputy Chairman (South) of the party, Chief Segun Oni, the Special Adviser to the President on Politician Matters, Sen Babafemi Ojudu, Ptunba Niyi Adebayo knows nothing about the forged lists sent to the National Secretariat.
“Those who signed the forged congress lists were never in the hierarchy of state leaders in Ekiti
“This is an affront to the National Secretariat of our great party and attempt to subvert the right of participation of other members and stakeholders in Ekiti.
“As a result of the above, we are requesting for a fresh congress in Ekiti and also a full investigation to unveil and bring to book those behind this rape of an important democratic process.
