Ekiti 2022: PDP fixes date for 22 wards, two LGAs Congresses

The National body of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed the date for the congress of the remaining 22 wards and two Local Government Areas of Ekiti State.

A statement on Thursday by the party National Working Committee (NWC) said the election of ward congresses to elect the 22 ward executives will commence on Friday, January 7, 2022, while the local government congresses to elect executives from two local government areas in the state have been scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

The Party NWC also fixed the election of ward congresses to elect the three-man ad-hoc delegates to Friday, January 7, 2022, while the local government congresses to elect one National Delegates, as well as one person living with disability from each local government area in the state, have been scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

According to a letter issued by the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyan, titled: “Re: Outstanding ward and Local Government Congresses in Gbonyin and Ekiti East in Ekiti State”, which was addressed to the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on December 21, PDP said the new dates for the conclusion of the outstanding Congresses in 22 wards and two LGAs have been designated for different dates and timelines for their elections.

The letter from the PDP notifying INEC of the new dates stated: “Please refer to our earlier letter with reference No: PDP/DOM CF. 2/VolIC/20-139, in which we informed INEC of the new dates for the conclusion of the outstanding congresses (Wards and LGA) in 2 LGA of Ekiti State; Gbonyin and Ekiti East.

“The leadership of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has now fixed the new dates for the conduct of the outstanding of the ward and LGA congresses in Gbonyin and Ekiti East LGAs and also affirmative congresses in the other 14 LGAs of the state as follows”:

(1) Wards

(i) Gbonyin LGA (10 wards)

(ii) Ekiti East LGA (12 wards)

Activities: To elect new ward executive  committee members and 3 Ad-Hoc delegates

Date: Friday, January 7, 2022.

(2)  Local Government Area:

(i) Gbonyin)

(ii)_Ekiti East

Activities: To elect new LGA Executive Committee Members and National delegates

Date: Saturday, January 15, 2022.

(3)  Wards and LGA

Activities: Affirmative congresses to affirm all wards and LGAs Executive  Committee members

Date: Saturday, January 15, 2022.

The governorship primary election will take place on January 28, 2022.
