Ekiti 2022: Fayose won’t abandon PDP for rodents – LG Chairmen
The Local Government chairman of the chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Michael Abiodun, has said that the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, will not dump the PDP for another political party.
Newsflash Nigeria gathered that some opponents within the PDP have alleged that Fayose to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if his preferred candidate in the PDP, Bisi Kolawole, loses the party gubernatorial ticket.
The rumoured was circulated on social media on Tuesday that Fayose held a meeting in Afao Ekiti, country home, with his followers on Monday, July 5, that he will pitch his tent with the incumbent governor, Governor Kayode Fayemi of the APC) and go all out to work against PDP if his candidate, Bisi Kolawole does not get the party’s ticket.
His words: “My people, do not be afraid of the primary election ahead, you will all recall I bought the forms for the majority of the party’s executives from the ward level to the state level. I know some of them already betrayed me but I have no fear about that. Don’t forget I am Peter the rock, my anointed candidate Bisi Kolawole will do all his best to win and if the worst happens, I will pack my load and work with Governor Fayemi.
“I will better destroy the party than allow those who won’t listen to me to win the main election. I will advise you all to go home and work with delegates, don’t allow them hijack this my greatest asset which is the Ekiti PDP,” Fayose said.
The source gathered that the former governor was not in Ekiti on Monday, July 5, 2021. Fayose left Ekiti to Lagos State on Saturday, July 3, 2021, after led his candidate, Bisi Kolawole, visited party delegates and executives in Ijero, Irepodun/ Ifelodun and Ekiti South-West local government areas on Thursday, July 1.

In reacting, the local government chairmen of the PDP have debunked the rumoured that Fayose will dump the party if Bisi Kolawole loses the party gubernatorial ticket.
A statement released to newsmen on Tuesday by the Local Government chairman of the chairmen of the PDP, Hon Michael Abiodun, said Fayose will not dump the PDP for another political party.
He said Fayose will not be bothered by petty blackmail, linking him with any threat to join the APC for whatever reasons.

The chairmen insist that the former governor owes no one apology for supporting Bisi Kolawole for Ekiti governor.
They stated that Fayose is used to plots to spoils his image and he is not bothered.
According to them, “It’s PDP or nothing for Fayose and his political family. How do you abandon your house for tenants?
“For supporting Bisi Kolawole as PDP governorship candidate, he has no apologies. This is more so that opponents of Bisi Kolawole also know that he is the aspirant to beat.
“Also, for Fayose, PDP remains the bigger picture that must be protected.
“Our leader is used to these armchair politics of image smearing, he has never been bothered.
“Most importantly, Fayose that we know has shown resilience in adversity so it is too late to abandon his political house, the PDP for rodents.”
