Ekiti 2022: Ex-deputy governor, Olusola Eleka declares ambition for guber poll
A former deputy governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Professor Kolapo Olusola, otherwise called Eleka has formally declared interest in the forthcoming 2022 governorship election in the state.
Eleka made his intention known on Monday at Apata Hall Arena, Ajilosun area of Ado Ekiti, the State capital while speaking on the topic: “The development of Ekiti past, present and the way forward” at a symposium organised by a group under the acronym ‘PDP Peace Movement’..
Eleka was the 2018 governorship candidate of the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but was defeated by present Governor, Kayode Fayemi.
The ex-deputy governor expressed optimism that the PDP would defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, adding that the people of the State were tired of the ruling party.
Olusola, who was the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, between 2014 and 2018, said he will focus on Education.
The former deputy governor said he will also tackle youth unemployment and revive the industrialization of Ekiti State by ensuring dividends of democracy shall be spread to all the Sixteen (16) Local Government.
He said “Today, I presented myself before PDP Delegates across the 16 Local Government Areas of Ekiti State and expressed my mission and vision during a symposium, organized by PDP Peace Movement in Ado-Ekiti.

“While speaking with party leaders, I recalled the glorious days of Ekiti State in Education as the Fountain of Knowledge during my tenure as the former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, between 2014 and 2018 and I praised Ekiti State for coming first in the Senior School Certificate Examinatithe on (SSCE) organised by National Examination Council, NECO, in 2016, 2017 and 2018 with increment in performance in West African Examination Council, WAEC from 30% to over 70% during the same period.
“I made my intention known to serve Ekiti State in a leadership role in the next political dispensation and contribute to her growth and development.
“I also reiterated my commitment to tackle youth unemployment and revive the industrialization of Ekiti State by ensuring dividends of democracy shall be spread to all the Sixteen (16) Local Government Areas of the state with life made avoidable for the masses.
“The mission to rebuild Ekiti State is a collective responsibility, it starts from you and I. Let us make it a reality, Eleka said.
Present to grace the occasion were accredited delegates from the sixteen local government areas of Ekiti State from Ado, Ikole, Irepodun, Ido-Osi, Ijero, Ekiti West, Moba, Ikere, Ilejemeje, Ekiti East, Gbonyin, Emure, Ise, Oye, Ekiti South West and Efon Local Government Areas of Ekiti State with party faithful and loyalists who graced the occasion in numbers.
