A former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Abiodun Aluko, on Sunday, urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to key into the consensus arrangement being embraced by the national leadership, to pick a governorship candidate from Ekiti South Senatorial District for the 2022 election.
The APC chieftain, who said the quest for rotation of the governorship in Ekiti State was in line with the Southern Governor’s conviction, argued that a governorship candidate from the southern senatorial district was a sure bet for the APC to retain the governorship in the state.
Aluko, who spoke in a chat with the Punch on Sunday, in his Ikere Ekiti hometown, said, “Emergence of APC candidate, who will eventually be elected governor from the South is going to help the continuity agenda of APC and at least, give Ekiti South Senatorial District the sense of belonging that it has been yearning for all this while.

“Now that the national leadership of APC has said that they are going to pick the presidential candidate on a consensus basis, then Ekiti APC should borrow a leaf from that, pick a consensus candidate from the South Senatorial District and that does the magic.
“What is fair is fair. If the Southern Governors of Nigeria, including our own Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, believe in rotation and they are saying the Presidency must come to the South in 2023, why must Ekiti South be sidelined in the governorship of Ekiti State? It must come to Ekiti South this time around so that our governor can be seen walking his talk.”
