Ekiti 2022: Call your supporters to order – Eleka tells Segun Oni

Barely three weeks to the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, one of the aspirants and 2018 governorship candidate, Professor Kolapo Olusola fondly called Eleka has called co-contesters, Segun Oni, to call their supporters to order over fabricated stories against him.

Newsflash Nigeria gathered that there was rumoured round on social media that the former deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Eleka had dropped his ambition to become the running mate of the former governor, Segun Oni, in the forthcoming 2022 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

It was also rumoured that the PDP National and State leaders have unanimously picked the former Governor as the consensus candidate of the Party, and thereby, chose Prof. Eleka as his running mate.

But the Kolapo Olusola Eleka Campaign Organisation (KOECO) has called the former governor Segun Oni to call his supporters to order.

In a statement released by the Director-General of the Eleka campaign, Pastor Tope Adejorin said his principal is in the governorship contest to win. He steps down for no one.

Eleka Campaign management said it is important to categorically state for the sake of posterity and to bring to the awareness of the general public and the PDP loyalists that we are not unaware that this alleged rumour emanated from the camp of the social media aides of the former Governor Oni, and they have since been the peddler of this fake news.

PROF. KOLAPO OLUSOLA ELEKA IS IN THE GOVERNORSHIP CONTEST TO WIN, HE STEPS DOWN FOR NO ONE.

“Our attention at the Kolapo Olusola Eleka Campaign Organisation (KOECO) has been drawn to a rumour making the rounds that the leading governorship aspirant of the PDP, H.E. Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, has dropped his ambition to become the running mate of another aspirant of the Party, Chief Segun Adebayo Oni, in the forthcoming 2022 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

“It was also rumoured that the PDP National and State leadership have unanimously picked the former Governor as the consensus candidate of the Party, and thereby, chose Prof. Eleka, the candidate of the Party in the 2018 election, as his running mate.

“We want to expressly state that nothing of such mentioned above ever happened. Besides that this rumour was badly orchestrated, it is only a figment of the imagination of the rumour peddlers. PROF. KOLAPO OLUSOLA ELEKA IS IN THIS GOVERNORSHIP CONTEST TO WIN.

“For the avoidance of doubt, it is important to categorically state for the sake of posterity and to bring to the awareness of the general public and the PDP loyalists that we are not unaware that this alleged rumour emanated from the camp of the social media aides of the former Governor Oni, and they have since been the peddler of this fake news.

“This is not only absurd in its entirety especially at this period when the Ekiti PDP is undergoing restructuring but also lack moral standing. This distasteful action is capable of sabotaging the effort of the leadership of our party who are working tirelessly to broker peace and unity amongst the aspirants, as well as party supporters across the State in order to lead the party to victory in June 2022.

“For clarification, It is worthy to note that H.E Prof Kolapo Olusola Eleka is a unifier, a civil and cultured citizen, an Ọmọluabi personified and a loyal party man who believes in the unity and victory of the PDP. He has no grudge with either any member or aspirant of the party and therefore, he can choose to fraternise with anyone within the party at any time or period. This, we believe, is what the rumour peddlers have mistaken to mean otherwise. Prof. Olusola Eleka sees himself as a PDP member, before being an aspirant.

“In conclusion, while we appreciate our teeming supporters across Ekiti State, the entire nation and in Diaspora for their prayers, support and steadfastness, we appeal to them to continue to go about their campaign in a civil manner acceptable within the ambit of the law. We urge them to not engage in a campaign of calumny that could jeopardize the peace and victory of our Party in the coming election”.
