Muyiwa Olumilua is a native of Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti South Senatorial District, a zone which has failed to produce a state governor since the creation of Ekiti State in 1996. He was a Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Mr. Muyiwa Olumilua, has promised to give 40 per cent of political appointments to the women if elected as governor in 2018.
He made the pledge on Tuesday at the APC secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, where he officially declared his intention to participate in next year’s governorship election in Ekiti.
Muyiwa accompanied with his Father, Evang. Bamidele Olumilua and He was later received in audience by the APC party leaders led by the state Acting Chairman, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye.
The younger Olumilua said he would run his administration on an eight-point agenda to bring sustainable development to the state.
He said women would be empowered under his leadership as four out of 10 appointments would go to them.
The APC Deputy Chairman in the state, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye, said Olumilua was the 21st aspirant to officially inform the state executive committee of their intention to join the governorship race.
