Ekiti 2018: APC, PDP Woo Delegates For Guber Primaries

Barely a month to the All Progressive Congress, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship Primaries to choose their party candidate, most of the aspirants are canvassing for delegates across 177 wards of the state.

As APC in Ekiti State holds its governorship primary on May 5 while the PDP holds their governorship primary on May 8.

Though the campaign for the July 14th governorship election in Ekiti State will open next week, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made this known.

Chairman of INEC Prof. Mahmud Yakubu said that the agency will paste the notice of election on Wednesday after which parties were free to campaign.

He said; the campaign will commence in Ekiti on April, 15th while political parties are expected to conduct their primaries simultaneously with the commencement of campaign between April 15th and May 14th.

The INEC Boss said the election in Ekiti will hold in all the 16 local government areas across 177 wards and 2,195 Polling Units, he added.

As both strong parties prepared for their primaries, the classes of the delegates to vote in the Primary election as follows:

For All Progressive Congress, APC delegates;

• 15 Principal Party Executives for each ward;
• All local government Party Executives;
• All-State Party Executives;
• All the three zones party Executives;
• All the Zonal Officer of the state;
• All the National Officer of the State;
• BoT members of the state;
• Three Senators of the State if any;
• House of Representatives of the state if any;
• House of Assembly of the state if any;
• Minister of the state if any;
• Governor of the state if any;
• Deputy governor of the state if any;
• The former governor of the state;
• The former deputy governor of the state;
• All governorship aspirants that obtain the nomination form.

For the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP delegates

• Governor of the State;
• Deputy governor of the State;
• All governorship aspirants that obtaining nomination form;
• All House of Assembly members;
• All elected LG Chairmen;
• All former LG party Chairmen from 1999 till date;
• All elected ward Councillors;
• 3 delegates from each ward;
• All-State Executives of the party;
• All LG Party Executives;
• 5 Party Executives from each ward ( Ward Chairmen, Ward Vice Chairmen, Ward Youth Leader, Ward Women Leader and Ward Secretary);
•  All former principal officers of the House of the assembly elected under the platform of PDP from 1999 till date;
• The former governor of the state elected under the party from 1999 till date;
• Former Deputy governor of the state elected under the party from 1999 till date;
• Elected Senators of PDP in the state;
• All House of Representatives members from the state;
• All former Senators elected under the party from 1999 till date;
• All former House of Reps members elected under the party from 1999 till date;
• All Zonal and National Executive members of the party from the state;
• All former Zonal and National executive members of the party from the state from 1999 till date;
• Former SWC members of the party from 1999 till date;
• One disable from each of the LGs in the State;
• All elected LG Vice-Chairmen;
• Former Minister appointed under the party from 1999 till date;
• Former Ambassador appointed under the party from 1999 till date;
• Former elected LG chairmen under the party from 1999 till date;
• Former elected LG leader of the house (councillors) under the party from 1999 till date;
