Ekiti 2018: Accord Candidate, Aluko Arrived Ekiti, Visits Traditional Rulers
The former deputy governor of Ekiti State and the Accord governorship candidate, Abiodun Aluko arrived Ekiti from Abuja with a new style.
Aluko arrived from Kogi route to Omuo Ekiti when other governorship parties candidates take the route from Akure to Ekiti State.
Aluko, Accord flag bearer in the Ekiti July 14 governorship election rode into Ekiti on Thursday, 7th June 2018 with his entourage visits some traditional rulers in Ekiti.
Aluko popularly called Oluomo of Ikere Ekiti with his Deputy Prince Ademola Ayodele, a Crown Prince of Otunja in Ikole Ekiti were received by party leaders led by Akogun Banji Ojo and Chief Samuel Abiola Ode OBA, state Chairman who had been waiting patiently with party faithful and admires as early as 9 am.
Aluko and his team finally arrived Omuo Ekiti from Abuja at about 1 pm unto the warm embraced of party leaders and members with funfairs ever witnessed in Omuo Ekiti. The train moved straight to the palace of Olomuo of Omuo for a Royal courtesy visit where the King prays for the entire team.
The notable scenario was the fact that people gathered along the road at every towns and villages from Omuo to Ikole Ekiti. The entourage had a stopover at Otonja palace in Ikole to pay home to the Royal father of the Deputy Governor candidate, Prince Ademola Ayodeji where the team was well received by the community at large, the King and the entire community prays for the success of the party at the coming election.
Aluko with entourage arrived at the Accord party Secretariat along Iworoko road, Ado Ekiti around 4:15 pm where we had a brief stopover for prayers.
Thereafter, Aluko moved to his hometown, Ikere Ekiti where the party faithful had been waiting eagerly to receive their own son. With a live mobile musician to cheer the crowd, Ikere Ekiti suddenly became thunderous with the unprecedented crowd who trecked with the entourage for kilometres before we got to the Ogoga of Ikere Palace, Oba Adejimi Adu where the royal father prays for peace and admonished politicians to play the game according to the rules.
Other places, Aluko also visited the palace of Olukere of Ikere Ekiti who was personally unavoidably absent but details of goodwill messages were delivered by the palace Chiefs as directed by Olukere.
SURVEYOR JACOB ABIODUN ALUKO was born in Ikere Ekiti on Christmas day, 25th December 1948.
He started his education at St John’s Primary school, Are, Ikere Ekiti and had his secondary school education at Annunciation Secondary School, Ikere Ekiti between 1966 to 1970 and he made grade 1. He proceeded to the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife) between 1972 to 1976 where he studied Geology and Applied Geophysics and he made Second Class Upper Division.
He proceeded to the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo in 1978 and graduated with First Class/Distinction in 1980 and obtained Post Graduate/Professional Diploma in Surveying and Mapping. He studied Computer Science at Workman Computer College, affiliated with Ekiti State University and obtained Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Applications Specializing in Auto CAD in 1992.
He also attended University of Ado – Ekiti (now Ekiti State University) for a Master degree in Environmental Management between 2003 to 2005 and Workshop on Public Policy Formulation at University of Ibadan in 2005. He also attended RECTAS at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife in 2004 for Post Graduate Certificate (PGC) in Geographic Information System (GIS).
He served NYSC at Industrial Development Center, Owerri, Imo State between 1976 to 1977. He qualified as a professional Surveyor and became a Licensed Surveyor in 1983 at one sitting (the first to achieve this feat). He returned to Ondo State Housing Corporation in Akure and promoted to become the head of department of surveying in Housing Corporation,Akure. He registered by SURCON to practice surveying and mapping throughout Nigeria in 1983, registered by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor, London (RICS) in 1984, registered by the UNDP in 1988 as a Project Development Consultant (PDC) in Engineering and Environmental Studies.
Abiodun Aluko popularly known as” Olu-Omo” of Ikere land joined the struggle for the creation of Ekiti State in 1987 under the chairmanship of Chief Deji Fasuan. He joined politics formally in 1988 and elected as the State Treasurer of the Peoples Front of Nigeria (PFN) under the national leadership of General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua in 1990.
He Contested as the Chairmanship candidate of National Republic Convention (NRC) of Ikere Local Government in 1990 and lose to Chief Dayo Okondo under the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He was elected as the Ikere Local Government Chairman of National Republican Convention (NRC) in 1993. He was elected as the Ikere Local Government Chairman of United Nigeria Peoples Congress (UNPC), a political party during the Abacha regime in 1996.
He was elected in 1999 as an Ex-Officio member of the state executive of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was nominated as the running mate to the PDP gubernatorial candidate of Mr Ayodele Fayose in 2003 and was elected as the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State in 2003 and he was illegally impeached as the Deputy Governor on 27th September 2005 by the Ekiti State House of Assembly due to political differences with the Governor, and the impeachment was reversed and annulled by the same state House of Assembly in April 2007.
He was appointed as a member of governing council at Bayero University, Kano in 2009 and re-appointed as a member governing Council at Bayero University, Kano in 2012. He contested the Ekiti State governorship seat in 2014 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
