EFCC Exposes Plans by Corrupt Governors and Other Politicians to Flee Nigeria
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has raised the alarm over the alleged plans by some governors and other politicians accused of corruption to flee Nigeria before the May 29 handover.
The anti-graft agency said it is working with its international partners to frustrate these escape plans and ensure that all those involved in economic and financial crimes are brought to justice.
In a statement issued on Friday night by its spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC said it will not relent in its efforts to prosecute corrupt political actors who have looted public funds while in office.
The statement reads in part: “The Commission wishes to alert the public about plans by some of the alleged corrupt politically exposed persons to flee the country ahead of May 29.
“The Commission is working in close collaboration with its international partners to frustrate these escape plans and bring those involved to justice.”
