EFCC Arrests NDDC MD, Nsima Ekere
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested Akwa Ibom State APC Governorship candidate and Managing Director of the NDDC over an alleged attempt to bribe members of the Akwa Ibom State APC Appeal Committee in Abuja.
Also taken into custody is Mr Uyo Nathaniel, an aide to Mr Ekere. Detectives have taken over Serendip Hotel and Apartments located at No 19 Nelson Mandela Cresecent in Abuja.
The EFCC operatives are currently analysing the security footage of the hotels security camera’s to establish who among the committee members got the cash.
The panel is chaired by Professor Osunbuor with Hon Idris Y. Yakubu as Secretary.
A source privy to the raid on the hotel said the appeal panel had received numerous petitions from the state resulting from the non conduct of primary in the state.
“When they heard that Akwa Ibom state APC aspirants had the highest number of aggrieved aspirants with complaints and appeals over the non conduct and the outright robberies of tickets from the real actual winners to their cronies and girlfriends some whom did not even purchase nomination forms, the appeal panel were bombarded with loads of Ghana Must Go bags of money which promted the EFCC raid based on intelligence report sent to the anti graft agency by some members of the panel that want to uphold their integrity”, said a source.
