The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has launched a N1 billion empowerment programme for 500 Ebonyi citizens who are living in various cities across the country and are engaged in various menial jobs.
The programme, which was flagged off on Tuesday, aims to translate the skills and talents of the beneficiaries to profitability and boost their businesses.
According to a statement by Mr Leo Oketa, the Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, the state has carefully profiled the beneficiaries and provided them with the enabling environment at the state’s Vocational Training Centre, where they can develop themselves in various skills.
The statement said that the programme is overseen by the state ministries of Commerce and Industry; and Skill Development and Job Creation.
The statement also said that the governor is fulfilling his promises to Ebonyi people as enshrined in The People’s Charter of Needs, which is a document that outlines the vision and mission of his administration.
