DSS Moves Suspended EFCC Chairman Bawa to Private Facility After He Refuses to Write Statements
The Department of State Services (DSS) has reportedly transferred the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, from its headquarters in Abuja to a private facility.
According to sources who spoke with SaharaReporters, the DSS moved Bawa to another location to exert more pressure on him after he declined to write any statements in their custody.
Bawa was said to have told the investigators that the DSS had no right to detain him without charges, hence his refusal to cooperate with them.
Bawa has been in detention along with the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, since three weeks.
The duo were suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shortly after he assumed office as Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.
Bawa and Emefiele are facing allegations of corruption and abuse of office, which they have denied.
