DSS finally confirms attack on Sunday Igboho’s house
Department of State Services(DSS), on Thursday evening, confirmed that its operatives carried out a midnight raid on the residence of Yoruba Freedom Fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in the Soka area of Ibadan Oyo State.
Newsflash had early reported that men in military uniform have attacked Mr Igboho’s residence in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday midnight around 1:30 am.
Less than 72 hours before the planned mega rally in Lagos State, men in the military stormed Igboho’s residence located at Soka Ibadan.
Newsflash Nigeria observed Igboho’s vehicles, including his G-wagon, Prado Jeep, some valuable properties including furniture, and windows were destroyed.
Bullet holes were found in cars parked on the premises while bloodstains were seen at the premises.
Also, Sunday Igboho, has spoken about the attack on his Soka, Ibadan home on Thursday morning, saying he was in the house and saw two people shot dead.
Speaking to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Pidgin Service on Thursday afternoon, Igboho alleged that those who came to attack his house were officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) and men of the Nigerian Army.
He also claimed that two people were killed during the attack which he said happened around 1:30 a.m., adding that he peeped through the window and saw everything that happened.
According to him: “Around 1:30 a.m., I just heard gunshots in front of my house with the attackers saying ‘all of you come out, we are DSS, we are soldiers.’
“I peeped through the window, saw them in uniforms–DSS uniform and the uniform of the Nigerian Army. I was surprised, wondering what the problem was. I never killed anybody, I never fought anybody, what I’m doing is to fight for my people.
“I’m fighting for my family because the Fulani bandits killed my family, raped them, kidnapped them, took ransoms from them. The government has refused to do the right thing for my family, that’s why I come out for my people to fight for our rights. So, I was surprised.”
Asked by the BBC how many people were killed and how many were taken away, Igboho said: “I was in the house this morning when they came. There were two guys that they killed around 2:00 a.m. when the shooting was so much. They destroyed all my property, all the property that I have. I had about N2 million inside my wardrobe, I can’t find it again.”

However, on Thursday evening, the Department of State Services (DSS), confirmed that it’s operatives carried out a pre-dawn attack on the residence of Sunday Igboho, in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
DSS, while confirming the raid, paraded 11 men and a woman arrested after the fierce battle.
The Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Dr. Peter Afunanya on Thursday night said the operatives recovered a cache of arms including seven AK-47 rifles and thousands of ammunition from Igboho’s house.
He said the suspects were taken to Abuja while Igboho escaped.
Afunanya stressed that the operatives have launched a manhunt for Igboho, adding that he will be tracked.
Some of the items recovered from the residence of Sunday Igboho are put on display by the DSS ahead of a press conference currently taking place in Abuja.
Mr Igboho’s campaign has been at odds with Nigerian security forces. His former residence in Ibadan was attacked earlier this year when he held rallies to demand Yoruba’s exit from Nigeria.
Security forces, including operatives of the State Security Service, have clashed with Mr Igboho’s private security team during attempts to arrest him.
