There was a mild drama on Tuesday at the Supreme Court when a seven-member panel of justices presided by Justice Tanko Muhammad ruled that the court lacks the jurisdiction to sit on appeal over its judgment on the Imo governorship.
In the main judgment read by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola held that the application lacked merit and dismissed the application.
“The judgement of the Supreme Court is finality,” he said.
The judge however said no cost would be awarded against the applicants.
Justice Nweze however delivered a dissenting judgement.
Meanwhile, a dissenting judgement delivered by Justice Chima Chiweze of the Supreme Court, Abuja, has set aside the January 14, 2020 ruling of the court and declared Emeka Ihedioha as winner of the governorship election.
Chiweze, who disagreed with the judgement of the six other members of the panel, said that Ihedioha’s application had merit and therefore allowed it.
He added that the apex court had the power to review its judgement.
