Drama as landlord’s Son demands N100,000, goat, others from tenant for father’s burial

A man identified as Oge Kings has reported that the son of his landlord demanded about N100,000, a live goat and other items from him for his father’s burial.

According the man who posted on the giant social media platform, Twitter, shared the letter itemising the things expected of him after his landlord died.

Kings, who shared the letter on Twitter did so in response to a viral letter purportedly written by the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi asking the Osun State government for money for his wedding to a Kano princess.

He shared the letter addressed to him with the caption, “You never see anything sef . My landlord just died and his son wrote a list of items that I will give to him as his tenant for his burial rites.”

Part of the items he’s expected to provide include, a live goat, N100,000, malt drinks, alcoholic drinks and others.

According to the letter shared, the son of the landlord wrote:

“I am directed to inform you and invite you on February 27, 2022, abut the death of your landlord, Mr Ugochukwu Okezie (Late).

“The burial has been fixed on the 9th March 2022. So on the above-mentioned date that is 27th February 2022, you have invited to come by 10:00 am been (Sunday) with the following items and cash at his compound.

  1. Opening of the table N5,000 with a bottle of Schnapp
  2. Wine for speech N5,000 with a bottle of Schnapp
  3. One goat
  4. 2 crates of maltina
  5. 2 cartoon of bear
  6. 16 Igbo Cola-nut
  7. 16 Alligator
  8. And cash of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000)

“Thanks for your cooperation and understanding”.

Recall that Oluwo had requested the support of the state government financially and logistically for his upcoming marriage to an unnamed princess from Kano State.

In a letter dated February 8, 2022, addressed to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the monarch said the estimated amount for the event is above N20,000,000.

“I have the instruction of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo to notify you of the Oluwo’s decision to marry a Princess from Kano Emirate, to be precise Ado Bayero dynasty.

“I wish to remind your Excellency that the kind of royal wedding within two notable traditional institutions in Nigeria will require huge expenses, which necessitate the support of state government financially even logistically.

“Moreover, the estimated amount for the event is above N20,000,000. His Excellency, Oba Akanbi relies on you for necessary consideration and approval on this request,” the letter read.
