Deposed Emir Sanusi sues Ganduje, Kano government

Deposed Kano Emir Muhammad Sanusi II, on Tuesday, March 10, has vowed to challenge his dethronement and banishment in court.

Recall that Sanusiwas dethroned on early hour of Monday over alleged disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the removal was with immediate effect.

He said the emir’s action violated the part 3 section A-E of Kano state law, hence the removal. He said the removal was in line with consultation with relevant stakeholders.

Meanwhile, deposed Sanusi II has vowed to challenge his dethronement and banishment in court.

According to the Sanusi’s lawyer, Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN), declared this in a briefing newsmen in Abuja today.

He said the restriction of the Emir’s movement and his dethronement were unlawful and gross violation of his human rights.
