Cult Killings: Don’t call a meeting that can cause tension in your community – Ekiti govt warns Ogoga, Olukere
Following the recent killing of two people in lkere-Ekiti by suspected cultists, the Ekiti State Government on Friday, summoned the Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adejimi Adu and the Olukere of lkere, Ganiyu Obasoyin Ayodele into an emergency meeting.
Newsflash Nigeria had earlier reported that palpable fear had engulfed residents of Ikere-Ekiti community following the death of another two persons killed on Tuesday night, May 18, by a cult clash.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday night, May 17, when one of the cult groups was shot dead at Ayetoro/Odo Oro Street, Oke’kere area of the town.
Newsflash Nigeria revealed that second person was also shot dead on Tuesday night, May 18, near the Special School for Blind, Oke-Osun area of the town.
This incident occurred exactly a month when the cult groups killed about eight persons in the town.
Newsflash Nigeria had reported that no fewer than seven persons were feared killed on Sunday, April 18, during a clash between two cult groups in the town.
“A resident of the town said two persons had been killed since another attack started on Monday night after a month that about seven was feared killed in the town.
The suspected cultists were said to have gone on a shooting spree leaving the community area scampered for safety.
These killings have throwing the town into confusing and various stakeholders have called in the government to find a lasting solution to the situation.

On Friday, the state government led by the Deputy Governor of the state Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi summoned the traditional ruler and the chiefs of the town to the meeting over the cult-related killings in the town.
The Deputy Governor warned the Ogoga and Olukere that there should be no meeting on either side that can cause tension in the town.
According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Deputy Governor, Odunayo Ogunmola, stressed that community leaders in Ikere must allow peace to reign in the town.

The Deputy Governor warned the Obas and chiefs not to allow any violence in the town and any breach of peace shall be sanctioned.
He also urged Ikere residents to report any criminal or cult members to the Police.
The Deputy Governor said the state government will not fold its arm and watch the situation degenerate into chaos and anarchy.
Otunba Egbeyemi urged residents of the town to cooperate with the state government to ensure a lasting peace in the town and its environs.
