COVID-19: Two Close Contacts with Bauchi Governor Test Positive for Coronavirus
Two persons in close contact with Bauchi State governor, Bala Muhammed have tested positive for COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus in Bauchi State.
The Bauch State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Aliyu Maigoro, disclosed this in a situation update while addressing newsmen in Bauchi, the state capital on Thursday.
The 27 persons who came in contact with Governor Mohammed were earlier placed on compulsory self-isolation.
The isolation covers a minimum of 14 days each is to determine their coronavirus status.
Gov. Mohammed tested positive to COVID-19 following contact with former Vice President’s son, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar, who is currently receiving treatment at Gwagwalada hospital in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, March 26, has said he would take strong enforcement on religious leaders and Nigerians, who defied orders to stay away from large gatherings following the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has disclosed on Thursday during a press conference in Abuja.
He also stated that the government is doing its best to control the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria but needs the citizens to do their best too.

While two patients 8 people have been discharged, Nigeria recorded one death.
“Let me say, without mincing words, that we are not getting the kind of cooperation that this moment (of coronavirus outbreak) deserves from Nigerians. Many people are busy engaging in meaningless criticisms instead of complying with the stipulated directives to keep people safe.
“Some Nigerians defied orders to stay away from large gatherings while some religious leaders willfully flouted the directives to ensure social distancing.
“The government is doing its best, but we need the citizens to do their best too. We have now gone past the stage of persuasion. It’s time for strong enforcement,” the statement read.
