The Ekiti State COVID -19 Environmental Task Force on Thursday, April 30, has arrested three pastors for using public address system to disturb the public peace of their neighborhood in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The three pastors; Babatunde Ajayi, Solomon Lawal and Goddey Erichen were arrested at the early hours on Thursday at Owode quarters, Basiri and Surulere area in Ado-Ekiti.
The COVID -19 Environmental Task Force led by Mr. Tunde Balogun, Director of Environmental Services, Ministry of Environment arrested them during a patrol with his team.
The pastors, who appeared before the Environmental Task Force at the State Mini pavilion Fajuyi in Ado-Ekiti, admitted that they flouted the environmental and sanitation provision.
According to Balogun, the offenders contravened the Environmental and Sanitation Law of Ekiti State 2012.
The pastors apologized for their actions and signed an undertaking that they would henceforth desist from disturbing the peace of the neighborhood with public address system in compliance with Environmental Law of Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, State governor, Kayode Fayemi, on Thursday, April 30, has appointed Mr Femi Adeoye, father of the young man who sneaked into the Ekiti state, as a COVID-19 Response Ambassador in Ekiti State.
Fayemi made the announcement on his Twitter handle on Thursday, saying, Adeoye as a principled Ekiti man and he salutes his courage in helping us keep Ekiti safe.
“Today, I appointed Mr. Adeoye, father of the young man who sneaked into Ekiti state, as a COVID-19 Response Ambassador in Ekiti State. I am proud of Mr Adeoye as a principled Ekiti man and I salute his courage in helping us keep Ekiti safe. #covid19 #covid19Ekiti”
