COVID-19: Nigeria records total of 200 deaths, cases rise to 6677
Nigeria on Wednesday night, May 20, has recorded another 284 new cases of Covid-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus and 8 deaths in Twelve (12) states as well as Abuja, the country capital, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 6677 and 200 deaths.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made the announcement on Wednesday night, on its official Twitter account.
The new cases are spread across Lagos, Rivers, Oyo, Borno, Plateau, Jigawa, Kano, Abia, Ekiti, Delta, Kwara and Taraba States as well as country capital, Abuja.
The centre also said that Eight (8) person deaths from Coronavirus-related complications in the country, but the number of fatalities rise to 200.
NCDC said “199 new cases were recorded in Lagos, 26 in Rivers State, 19 in Oyo, 8 in Borno, 8 in the Federal Capital Territory, 7 in Plateau, 6 in Jigawa, 5 in Kano.
The tweet further revealed that two cases recorded in Abia and one case each was recorded in Ekiti, Kwara, Delta and Taraba States.
As at now, 6677 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Nigeria with 1840 patients discharged and 200 deaths recorded.
