Covid-19: Lagos records two more deaths of Coronavirus

The Lagos State government on Tuesday, April 21, has recorded two more deaths of the Covid-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in the state to 16.

The State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, who disclosed on Tuesday, saying the state has two COVID-19 deaths.

Abayomi stated that although Lagos had no fresh cases as at April 20, there were still fatalities from the virus from those earlier infected.

 Abayomi said, “No new case of #COVID19 was confirmed in Lagos on 20th April, 2020.

“However, #COVID19 related deaths were recorded in Lagos. One of the deceased was a 45-year-old Nigerian male who returned from India in January 2020.”

So far, Lagos has 379 confirmed cases, 98 have been discharged, 260 remain active while 16 have died.

Meanwhile, the state government has shut down the private hospital where the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari to the President Muhammadu Buhari died and five other private hospitals in the state after some workers were exposed to COVID-19, otherwise to known as Coronavirus.

The State government on Monday decontaminated the hospitals and placed them under lock for two weeks.

The hospitals include:

 St Nicholas, Lagos Island branch;

 First Cardiology Consultants Hospital, Ikoyi (where Abba Kyari died),

 St Edwards Hospital, Ajah,

Vedic Lifecare Hospital, Lekki;

County Hospital, Ogba and

Premier Specialist Hospital, Victoria Island.
