An Osun state magistrate court sitting in Ikirun has on Tuesday remanded five members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ilesha Corrections Center for attempted murder.
The suspects; Akinlade Abayomi (38yrs), Sodiq Atitebi (25yrs), Azeez Adejimi (28yrs), Solomon Alatayo (36yrs) and Siju Oyewumi (68yrs) were earlier arraigned on a three-count charge and were alleged to have conducted themselves in a manner which aimed to disrupt peace in Ikirun of Ifelodun Local Government Area.
The prosecutor, Inspector Jacob Akintunde informed the court that on February 1st 2022 at 1:45 pm Abayomi, Atitebi, Adejimi, Alatayo, Oyewumi and others who were now on the run had connived together to murder one Fatai Asimiyu by hitting him on the head with a machete.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy, unlawful society, attempted murder and breach of public peace, brought against them.
The defendant’s counsel, Mr Olatunbosun Oladipupo asked that the court grant them bail on the most liberal terms which was opposed by the prosecutor.
Akintunde explained that granting the suspects bail was dangerous to wait may eventually lead to the murder of the victim since the other suspects were still at large.
The judge, Mr Asimiyu Adebayo, therefore, ordered that the suspects be remanded in Ilesha Corrections Facility and adjourned the case till February 23rd 2022.
