The Council of Traditional Rulers in Osun State, on Friday, February 21, has suspended the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, for six months over assault of his colleagues during a peace meeting.
Recall that, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, had beaten up another monarch during a peace meeting.
A source who gathered report said that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 11, Bashir Makama, had called for a peace meeting amongst royal fathers from the Iwo axis over land disputes.
The source said in the middle of the meeting, which had other monarchs, including some top police personnel, as well as government functionaries in attendance, which Oba Akanbi allegedly stood up from where he was sitting and descended on Oba Dhirulahi Akinropo, Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa town, inflicting injury on him.
Confirming the incident to journalists at the Osun State General Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, where the assaulted monarch was receiving treatment, the Olu of Ile-ogbo, Oba Agbaje Habeeb Adetoyese, who spoke on behalf of other monarchs said the development came as a shock to everyone at the meeting.

Oba Akanbi was found guilty of assault by the committee set up by the council of Obas following his encounter with another Oba within Iwoland.
A committee headed by Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun, was also constituted by the council to further investigate the matter involving Oluwo and Obas in Iwo land.
The royal fathers at their emergency meeting held at Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere, presided over by Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, arrived at the decision to suspend Oba Akanbi.
It was also gathered that part of the reasons for suspending Oluwo was his alleged disrespect for Alaafin of Oyo, Alake of Egbaland and Ooni of Ife.
