Buhari, Osinbajo, Oyegun to attend Abia APC mega rally
The Abia state chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) Chief Donatus Nwankpa says his party is determined to take over the realm of government in the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2019.
Nwankpa said that the machinery to achieve this has been set in motion with the inauguration of a special committee for the first mega rally of the party in the state capital.
The Abia APC state chairman said that President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the national chairman of APC, Chief Odigie Oyegun are expected to attend the mega rally.
Speaking while inaugurating the committee at the party secretariat in Umuahia, Nwankpa, a former commissioner in the state two said that the people of the state were yearning for change and good governance which the party was ready to provide.
Nwankpa said that the APC possesses the reach and strength to meet the desires of the people, saying that the forth coming mega rally in the state would serve as a veritable platform to unveil those who have joined the party in the state.
He said, “We are aware of the challenge before the people of the state and that is why the APC apparatus has thrown in everything to woo credible and very distinguished sons and daughters of the state to join the party”.
The Abia APC boss said that the idea they brought out to woo new members have yielded amazing results, adding that during the rally that the new entrants would be unveiled to the people of the state.
In his remarks, chairman of the mega rally committee, Hon Iheanacho Obioma, a former member of the House of Representatives, promised not to disappoint the expectations of the party but to work in a manner as to use the rally to showcase the party.
Obioma charged other members of the committee including Chief Ogunka Adiele John and Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe, deputy chairman and secretary respectively in the committee’s maiden meeting, to see their nomination as a privilege to serve and not a right.
He described their membership of the committee as a call to work to rescue the state from poor governance, want and despair, adding that APC is the most popular party in the state.
The former federal house of representatives member expressed the hope that the party would by the collective efforts of all excel in all the elections in 2019, “We want to liberate the state from the hands of bad governance come the next election”.
In a release jointly signed by Chief Ben Godson and Ralph Egbu of the publicity committee the date for the rally would be announced soon after every logistics would have been put in place.
