Buhari Honours CBN Governor Emefiele and Other Distinguished Nigerians with National Awards
President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred national honours on Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and several other eminent Nigerians for their remarkable contributions to the nation.
Emefiele received the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR), one of the highest honours in the country.
Among the other recipients was Emeka Anyaoku, a former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, who was awarded the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), the second highest honour in Nigeria.
Other notable personalities who were honoured for their exemplary service included former Governors of Osun and Ogun States, Bisi Akande and Olusegun Osoba respectively, and Mamman Daura, who also received the CFR.
The Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III, was honoured with the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON).
Oba Adekunle was recognized for his steadfast support for the military and his tireless efforts to inspire Nigerians to back the Nigerian Army.
As a traditional ruler in Osun State for over ten years, Oba Adekunle has been instrumental in promoting peace and providing leadership to his people.
The Olowu in council thanked President Buhari for acknowledging their monarch with such a significant national honour.
They said that history would remember President Buhari, a former army general and a democrat, for bestowing this prestigious honour.
