Brother of Ekweremadu ‘Kidney Donor’ narrates the real age of David

Jonathan Ukpo Nwanmini, the younger brother of David Ukpo Nwamini who was taken to the United Kingdom by a former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has revealed the real age of the donor.

David was flown to the UK to donate one of his kidneys to Ike Ekweremadu’s daughter who has a kidney ailment.

But the Specialist Crime Team of the Metropolitan Police arrested the Senator and his wife, Beatrice at the Heathrow Airport in London en route to Istanbul in Turkey and detained them on allegations of child trafficking and organ harvesting after they had flown David to the UK for a kidney transplant.

They were arraigned before a UK Magistrate court on Thursday. Ekweremadu and his wife were subsequently denied bail in court, and the case was adjourned to July 7 for further hearing.

But Jonathan Ukpo Nwanmini, who is the younger brother of David that involved in the controversial organ harvesting scandal has claimed that the age of the donor is 25 years old as against 15 years claimed by the British Police.

David’s brother, who claimed to be 22 years of age told Sunday Vanguard that the victim is his elder brother.

He added that he has been conversating with his brother since January when he travelled.

The donor’s brother said he was staying with them here in Ikotun before he left. We both have sold phone accessories. We spoke last week. We even spoke again this week.

He said David was not working yet as he needed to go to school first before he could be given a working paper. I told him about our dad who was not feeling fine.

He said:” David is my elder brother because we are both of the same father with different mothers and we hail from Ebonyi State. I will be 22 years old by next month and David is 25 years old.

“I am aware that he travelled because he told me. He did not disclose the country he was travelling to. He simply told me he was going to school abroad.

“After some months of not hearing from him, I got his number from his girlfriend and called him. I asked about his studies and work.”

Meanwhile, David narrated how Senator Ekweremadu had told him to work for his company in the United Kingdom.

David who posted on his Facebook timeline on June 25 explained that the lawmaker didn’t tell him about a kidney transplant.

He claimed that they promised him a job and never told him about the organ donation, adding that he got to know about the organ harvesting through the Doctor who was going to perform the procedure on him.
