Bribery Videos: No Going Back On Ganduje’s Investigation – Kano Assembly
The Kano House of Assembly has announced their readiness to continue with the investigation of alleged bribe-taking videos by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje despite a court order halting the process.
Briefing reporters on Tuesday, the Chairman, Kano House of Assembly ad hoc committee investigating the bribery videos, Alhaji Bappa Baba Dan’Agundi, said members of the panel had studied the order alongside their lawyers and arrived at the conclusion that the order did not stop them from their work.
According to him: “the Kano High Court in its interim injunction only asked us to “maintain status quo”.
The vehement posture of the Assembly was coming against the backdrop of unsubstantiated plot by governor Ganduje to sack the leadership of the State House of Assembly.
A Kano high court presided over by Justice A.T. Badamasi had last Monday ordered the Kano State House of Assembly to “maintain status quo ante” pending the determination of the suit.
The interim order was sought by one Muhammad Zubair on behalf of Lawyers for Sustainable Democratisation of Nigeria.
The court had averred that “the Respondents should be served before the closed (sic) of work today.”
It also posited that “accelerated hearing is hereby ordered and the respondents are given four days to respond to this application after service.”
The court further ordered that “parties should maintain status quo ante pending the determination of the motion on notice.”
