Brian Idowu Scores On Debut As Eagles Comeback To Beat Argentina In Krasnodar Friendly
Super Eagles new boy Brian Idowu scored on his debut for Nigeria in their 4-2 win against the La Albiceleste of Argentina in an international friendly decided at Krasnodar Stadium, Russia on Tuesday.
Ever Banega put the two-time world champion ahead capitalizing on Daniel Akpeyi’s mistake in goal for Nigeria. Sergio Aguero doubled the lead finishing from a swift counterattack in the 36th minute.
Nigeria launched their resurgent through Leicester City forward in the 44th minute from a well-taken free kick. Arsenal forward, Alex Iwobi level scores in the 52nd minute, and added the second in the 74th minute, Russia-born and new invitee, Brian Idowu also put his name on the score-sheet as Nigeria defeated Argentina 4-2.
Newly invited goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho came on as second-half substitution replacing Akpeyi, Iheanacho made way for Ahmed Musa, Kayode Olanrewaju came on late in the game for Iwobi, while Kenneth Omeruo also came on for Leon Balogun in the second half of the game.
Meanwhile, the victory is the first time Nigeria will be defeating Argentina at the senior national team level in all competitions.
