Barely three weeks to the Kogi governorship election scheduled for November 16, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked the House of Representatives member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in Kogi state, Mohammed Lawal.
Lawal who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had earlier won at the elections petitions tribunal in the state.
In its ruling, the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to conduct rerun elections in 21 polling units in the constituency.
The appeal was filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate, Aloysius Okino.
By the court’s ruling late Monday, October 28, the PDP candidate now leads with about a thousand votes going into the rerun exercise.
The court’s verdict has been getting reactions on social media especially from political stakeholders in Kogi state.
The verdict also comes days after the Appeal Court sacked the APC member representing Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency in green chambers and declared Barrister Shaba Isah Ibrahim of the PDP winner of the election.

Similarly, the Appeal Court sitting in Enugu has declared Honourable Obinna Chidoka of the PDP as the duly elected House of Representatives member representing Idemili North and Idemili South federal constituency.
The court sacked All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’s candidate Ibezi Ifeanyichukwu, who was declared the winner by INEC.
