BREAKING: Two killed in Ekiti road accident on Eid-El Moulud day
The accident occurred at Ureje area of Ado Ekiti, along the ever-busy Ado Ekiti- Ikare, Ondo State highway, along the Federal Polytechnic road, Ado Ekiti road.
A fatal road accident on Thursday claimed the lives of two yet to be identified young men in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The two men, believed to be traders, were riding on a motorcycle and conveying a bag of corn to an unknown destination.
They were killed in the early hours of the day when residents were about celebrating Eid-El Moulud day.
The young men were reportedly crushed to death by a fully loaded tanker trailer.
The accident occurred at Ureje area of Ado Ekiti, along the ever-busy Ado Ekiti- Ikare, Ondo State highway, along the Federal Polytechnic road, Ado Ekiti road.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the two men, while riding on the motorcycle with the corn bag, mistakenly hooked on the edge of the trailer while on motion, and the bike swerved under the vehicle, killing them instantly.
Men of the Nigeria Police from Odo Ado Division who rushed to the scene were said to have saved the truck from being set ablaze having been laden with petrol as at the time of the incident.
Officials of the State Fire Service who got wind of the incident later came to remove the corpses, under the supervision of the police, for onward deposition in the morgue.
”Two people on a motorcycle were today crushed by a tanker. We were informed that the rider was trying to overtake the tanker when they unfortunately fell and crushed to death by the tanker.
”Their bodies have been released to their families for burial based on their request.
”The driver is in our custody for further investigation, the Police confirmed.
