BREAKING: PDP Sacks 62 staff members over dwindling revenue

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday, March 6, has issued disengagement letters to 62 of its staff members as a result of dwindling revenue.

Among those affected were four directors, two deputy directors, six assistant directors, 17 supervisors, 14 intermediate staff, and 19 junior staff.

The party National Working Committee (NEC) had earlier presented a memo to its National Executive Committee (NEC) seeking approval to sack 50 per cent of its workforce as a result of dwindling revenue.

This approval was given on February 22 by NEC after its meeting in Abuja.

The party in a letter signed by it Deputy National Secretary, Emmanuel Agbo, dated March 5, assured the affected staff of payment of their entitlements.

Agbo, however, said that the affected staff is to show evidence of the signed disengagement letter signed by the National Secretary’s office before such payments could be made.

“All staff has the option of resignation, and such a letter should only be addressed to the National Secretary.

“All affected staff must be cleared and issue clearance certificate, indicating that they are not financially or materially indebted to the party.

“Consequently upon above, all affected staff must hand over all party documents, materials, office keys and their identify cards to enable clearance,” Agbo said.

This is the second time PDP was rationalising its workforce. Some of the staff was sacked in 2015 after the party lost the presidential election.
