BREAKING: One Killed As Two-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos
Another two-storey building collapsed in Lagos barely two weeks after the building located in Chris Igadi Street, in the Ago Palace Way area was collapsed.
According to a report on Saturday, May 21, 2022, a two-storey building located on Freeman Street, Lagos Island, has collapsed, leaving one person confirmed dead.
It was gathered that one other person was rescued alive from the rubbles on Saturday.
The two-storey building which was under construction collapsed during heavy rainfall in the area.
The unfortunate incident was confirmed by the Lagos Territorial Head of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye.
“One rescued alive and one died. Responders are on the way,” he said.
Building collapse is not uncommon in Lagos due to lax regulatory oversight and sharp practices by developers.
In November a high-rise block of luxury flats under construction collapsed in the Ikoyi area of the state, killing at least 40 people.
In February, a building under construction collapsed in the Yaba area of the state, trapping some workers.
Earlier this month, no fewer than 10 persons were confirmed dead after a three-storey building collapsed in the Ebute Metta area of the State.
