Barely six days to the Ondo governorship election, a yet-to-be-identified man was, on Saturday night, killed in a clash between supporters of Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Eyitayo Jegede, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The clash, which occurred at Ọbanla area of Akure, the state capital, also left several persons injured and vehicles damaged.
An eyewitness said the social and economic activities of the area were paralyzed for several hours.
Both PDP and APC have traded accusations over who was responsible for the attack.
The incident comes barely two weeks after five people were injured in a shootout between supporters of both parties at Oba-Akoko in Akoko south-west local government area of the state.
The injured supporters sustained varying degrees of injuries, while vehicles were vandalised during the confrontation.
