Nigeria on Sunday night, May 24, has recorded another 313 new cases of Covid-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus and five deaths in sixteen (16) states as well as Abuja, the country capital, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 7,839 and 226 deaths.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made the announcement on Sunday night, on its official Twitter account.
The new cases are spread across Lagos, Rivers, Oyo, Edo, Kano, Ogun, Ebonyi, Nasarawa, Delta, Plateau, Kaduna, Akwara Ibom, Bayelsa, Niger, Kwara and Anambra States as well as country capital, Abuja.
The centre also said that five death from Coronavirus-related complications in the country, but the number of fatalities rise to 226.
NCDC said “148 new cases were recorded in Lagos, 36 in the Federal Capital Territory, 27 in Rivers, 19 in Edo, 13 in Kano, 12 in Ogun,11 in Ebonyi.
The tweet further revealed that eight cases each were recorded in Nasarawa and Delta States, 7 in Oyo, 6 in Plateau, 5 in Kaduna, 4 in Kwara, three cases each recorded in Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa States, two in Niger and one in Anambra State.
As at now, 7,839 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Nigeria with 2,263 patients discharged and 226 deaths recorded.
