BREAKING: Kogi records first two cases of Coronavirus

Kogi is one of the two states yet to confirm any case of the virus since the country recorded its index case in February. The other state is Cross River. Both states are believed to be discouraging tests for people with symptoms of COVID-19.

Kogi State on Wednesday night, May 27, has recorded the first two cases of the COVID-19, otherwise known as Coronavirus, Newsflash247 reports

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made the announcement on Wednesday night, on its official Twitter account, saying, the two cases were recorded in Kogi State.

Though, the Kogi State government has yet made a statement at the time filling this report.

Kogi is one of the two states yet to confirm any case of the virus since the country recorded its index case in February. The other state is Cross River. Both states are believed to be discouraging tests for people with symptoms of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Nigeria had recorded another 389 new cases of Covid-19 and five (5) deaths in twenty-two (22) states on Wednesday night, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 8,733 and 254 deaths.

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), made the announcement on Wednesday night, on its official Twitter account.

It said, the new cases are spread across Lagos, Katsina, Edo, Rivers, Kano, Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Kaduna, Kwara, Nasarawa, Gombe, Plateau, Abia, Delta, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Oyo, Imo, Borno, Ogun and Anambra States.

The centre also said that five deaths from Coronavirus-related complications in the country, but the number of fatalities rise to 254.

NCDC also revealed that total numbers of 2,501 patients were discharged.

According to NCDC,  “256 new cases were recorded in Lagos, 23 in Kastina, 22 in Edo, 14 in Rivers, 13 in Kano, 11 in Adamawa, 11 in Akwa-Ibom, 7 in Kaduna, 6 in Kwara, 6 in Nasarawa.

It also revealed that two cases each were recorded in Gombe, Plateau, Abia, Delta, Benue, Niger, Kogi and Oyo States, one each case recorded Imo, Borno, Ogun and Anambra States.
