The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, November 10, has declared Professor Charles Soludo as the winner of the Anambra State governorship election.
Soludo, who contested under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), polled a total of 112,229 votes.
Professor Florence Obi, the returning officer of the election, said Soludo met all the conditions required to be declared the winner.
She said Soludo, having scored the highest number of votes and won more than two-thirds of the election in 21 Local Government areas of the state.
“I hereby declare Charles Soludo of the APGA winner of the election and he is returned elected” she said.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) announced Soludo as the Governor-Elect at exactly 1:51 am on Wednesday.
Valentine Ozigbo, his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rival, secured 53, 807 votes.
Andy Uba, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), placed third-highest votes with 43,285 while Ifeanyi Ubah, the Young Progressive Party (YPP) got 21,261 votes.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) won 19 of the 21 Local Government Areas results declared by INEC while his closest rival, Ozigbo, won only one local government area and Uba failed to win none, including his LGA where he lost to Soludo, while Ubah also won one local government area.
Obi said Soludo will be presented with his certificate at the INEC office in Akwa, the state capital, of return on Wednesday.
