BREAKING: Gunmen Kill NYSC member, security; abduct man in Ekiti

According to report from some members of the community, a corps member serving at the company was also shot dead by the kidnappers.

Barely less than forty eight hours after a Director in the Local Government Service Commission in Ekiti state was assassinated, some unknown gunmen on Tuesday afternoon abducted a retired US military officer, Major Jide Ijadare along Ilupeju-Ijan road while working in his oil company.

According to report from some members of the community, a corps member serving at the company was also shot dead by the kidnappers.

The incident came less than forty eight hours after a Director in the Local Government Service Commission in Ekiti state was assassinated.

Ijadare’s security aide was killed on the spot.

He was said to have come home from the USA to start a Palmoil Producing Factory in Ijan, his hometown, with his factory employing over 50 people.

When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident, saying that security agents were combing the bush to arrest the abductors.

“We can confirm to you that a retired US soldier was kidnapped around 2:00pm today(Tuesday) and one other,” said Mr Abutu.

“One person was also killed during the attack at a factory in Ijan Ekiti where the two persons were kidnapped.

“The police commissioner has drafted policemen to the place and we are combing the bushes where they escaped into.

“The police is working with local hunters to work with us and ensure that these kidnappers are arrested and prosecuted.”

Newsflash247 had earlier reported that unknown gunmen assassinated a director in the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, Mr David Jejelowo on Monday.

Newsflash247 gathered that the senior officer was killed at about 1am at his residence in Igirigiri Ado Ekiti, the State capita on Monday.

The incident was said to have thrown the whole community into palpable calm and shock.

Recall that, the late Jejelowo was a victim of kidnapping in January this year.

He was abducted alongside his driver on the Ado-Ijan Road before they were later released after series of negotiations for ransom with the kidnappers.
