BREAKING: Gunmen kill APC chieftain, Ahmed Gulak in Imo

Suspected assassins on Sunday morning shot dead a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Gulak, in Owerri, the state capital.

Gulak, a former Special Adviser to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan on Political Matters, was shot dead while returning to Abuja from Owerri, Imo State.

Gulak’s daughter announced the death of her father on twitter.

In her tweet, she wrote: “I just lost my dad please put him in your Dua. Thank you as you do so.

“Allaahummaghfir li (Ahmed Ali Gulak) warfa’ darajatahu fil-mahdiyyeena, wakhlufhu fee ‘aqibihi fil-ghaabireena , waghfir-lanaa wa lahu yaa Rabbal-‘aalameena, wafsah lahu fee qabrihi wa nawwir lahu feehi”

Gulak was chairman of the APC committee that conducted the primaries for Imo governorship election.

He had been declared missing after arriving in the state to supervise the exercise in October 2018

He later said he was  “kidnapped” alongside members of the panel, and that he was offered $2 million to influence the outcome of the primaries.

He had also alleged that Rochas Okorocha, then-governor of Imo state, forced members of the electoral panel to declare Uche Nwosu, his favourite candidate, as winner of the primary.

The APC national working committee (NWC) eventually cancelled the exercise after Nwosu was announced the winner.
