About twelve (12) people have been kidnapped in Itapaji Ekiti in Ikole Local government area of Ekiti State by unknown gunmen.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening around 9:30 pm in Itapaji Ekiti.
Newsflash Nigeria gathered that six of those abducted had escaped from the kidnappers.
It was gathered that the gunmen besieged a house located in the town around 9.30 pm, shot sporadically into the air and made away with 12 occupants of the building.
The gunshots that lasted for over one hour were said to have terrified the residents of the community.
The source said the owner of the building was preparing for his mother’s burial and the preparations were said to have been on top gear when the evil men struck.
“The men numbering seven came around 9.30 pm with guns and surrounded the building. They fired gunshots sporadically.
“As the occupants of the house were coming out, they were grabbed and made to lie face down. They were later taken away into the bush. They were 14 initially, but six of them escaped into the bush”.
This incident happened five days after five people were abducted by kidnappers along Ayedun-Ilasa-Ayebode road in Ikole Local Government Area of the state.
Newsflash Nigeria had reported last week Thursday that the five travellers were abducted at various locations in Ilasa and Ayebode areas of the state by unknown gunmen.
In a similar incident, at least six persons have been killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Unguwar Samanja village, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Residents said the bandits stormed the village around 5:49 pm on Sunday when residents were preparing for prayer.
According to them, the bandits operated for many hours unchecked.
It was learnt that on arrival at the village on motorcycles, the gunmen started shooting indiscriminately, resulting in the death of the victims.
The gunmen also abducted a yet-to-be ascertained number of people.
Katsina, despite being the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari has witnessed sporadic attacks by bandits and kidnappers that have claimed the lives of many.
Over 700 people have been reportedly killed by the gunmen in Jibia, Kankara, Dutsinma, Musawa, Danmusa and Safana local government areas of the state in the last five months.
