Unknown gunmen on Sunday evening have attacked a lawmaker representing Ohaukwu North Constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Chinedu Awoh, on his way to Effium Community in the state.
It was gathered that Hon Awoh who hails from the Effium community was in the company of some people in the area when the incident occurred.
The details of the incident were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, but the Lawmaker was said to have been ambushed on his way by the gunmen who rained bullets at his convoy.
Hon. Awoh sustained severe bullet wounds and is currently receiving medical attention at the intensive care unit of Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

Effium community has been enmeshed in a communal war between the people of Ezza-Effium and Uffiom clans since January 22, 2021.
The war has claimed hundreds of lives and property worth billions have also been destroyed.
Three weeks ago, a Consultant handling the Ebonyi ring road project and four others with him, were kidnapped along the Effium axis of the ring road while supervising the project.
The kidnap victims are yet to be found as of the time of filing this report.
