BREAKING: Ekiti records 15 new cases of COVID-19

Ekiti State has discovered fifteen (15) new cases of the COVID-19, raising its number of confirmed cases in the state to 917.

According to the report, out of 917 cases recorded in the state, 39 persons are still on admission receiving treatment, 867 persons have been discharged, with 11 deaths recorded.

In a statement released on Monday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Ekiti, Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 10 other states reported 471 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

The health agency also reported two additional COVID-19 related deaths.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Monday.

According to the agency, the 471 new cases were recorded from twelve states and the FCT.

Lagos recorded the highest numbers for new infections with 219 cases, Akwa Ibom – 102, Ondo – 37, Oyo – 33, Kwara – 19, Rivers – 16, Ekiti – 15, Delta – 14, Ogun – 7, FCT – 5, Niger – 2, while Edo and Katsina reported a single case each.

The health agency said the 471 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 178, 086

However, 165,763 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With two deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,187, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
