BREAKING: Ekiti petition writer, Senator Bode Olowoporoku, is dead
The Ekiti petition writer and former senator, Dr Bode Olowoporoku, is dead.
Newsflash Nigeria gathered that Senator Olowoporoku died in the early hours of Thursday after a brief illness.
He was born 75 years.
Olowoporoku born on September 29, 1945 in Ilawe Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti South West local government area of the state.
Olowoporoku studied Economics at the University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife in 1970 and attained PHD in Economics at the Manchester University, England in 1976.
He was appointed as High School Teacher, Akure, 1970-Junior Research Fellow, Institute of Administration, University of Ife, 1971 -72; Junior Research Fellow and Post-graduate Student, Manchester University, 1972-76; Lecturer, Economic Development/Economic Planning, University of Ife, 1976-79.
He was the Commissioner for Economic Planning in the old Ondo State, between, 1971 to 1981
He also was the Federal Minister of State for Science and Technology, 1983.
Olowoporoku was one of the sons led the struggle for the creation of Ekiti State in 1996.
He was the Governorship Candidate of the All Peoples Party (APP) in Ekiti State, 1999.
Olowoporoku represented Ekiti South senatorial district between 2003 and 2007 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
