BREAKING: Court stops INEC from engaging MC Oluomo in election materials distribution

A Federal High Court in Lagos has barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from engaging the services Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, chairman of the Lagos parks and garages, for the distribution of election materials and ad-hoc staff in the state.

Chukwujekwu Aneke, the presiding judge, made the order on Monday, in a suit filed by the Labour Party.

Recall that INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos, Olusegun Agbaje, had said working with the Lagos State Parks Management Committee led by MC Oluomo, would not compromise the forthcoming elections.

Agbaje stated this last Tuesday during the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) meeting at the commission’s office in Lagos.

The INEC official asserted that the commission was only concerned about meeting up with the high volume of logistics needs for the elections, adding that the movement of the sensitive materials would be monitored by security agencies, party agents, and observers.
