BREAKING: Coronavirus: Dubai returnee dies in Lagos

Lagos State government, on Tuesday night, has announced that one of the Nigerians that the federal government evacuated from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is dead.

The State Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, broke the news in a tweet on Tuesday night.

He said the deceased, who had “severe underlying health condition”, died from COVID-19–related complications.

Abayomi appealed to residents of Lagos to be cautious despite the easing of the lockdown President Muhammadu Buhari ordered to limit the spread of COVID-19.

A total of 256 Nigerians who were stranded in Dubai as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic were evacuated on Wednesday.

They are currently under quarantine in Ikeja and Lekki areas of Lagos.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said they would be tested for COVID-19 at the end of the 14-day quarantine.
