BREAKING: Chelsea FC beat Manchester City to win UEFA Champions League
Chelsea FC have defeated Manchester City 1-0 to win the Champions League in Porto on Saturday.
This is Chelsea’s second Champions League title after their 2012 triumph, while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City appeared in the final for the first time.
Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the Champions League final.
The Blues, in their third European Cup final appearance, claimed their sixth major European trophy at the Estádio do Dragão.
They won a couple of Europa Leagues (2013, 2019) and Cup Winners Cups (1971, 1998) in the past.
Having won two consecutive matches against Pep Guardiola’s side, Thomas Tuchel’s boys now have a hat-trick of wins against the Cityzens.
It was a slow start to the game between the two English clubs. Manchester City however woke up and began some foray down their left flank in the 29th minute. But a gorgeous Kai Havertz finish broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute for Chelsea.
Having taken Paris Saint Germain to last season’s final, Tuchel became the first man to take two different clubs to the final in successive seasons.
Chelsea were able to contain City in the second half to ensure Havertz’s goal was enough to lay claim to the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League title.
