Before the meeting, President Buhari had earlier after the Federal Executive Council meeting met with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Though, the details of the meetings are yet to be known at the time of filling this report.

Newsflash gathered that issues on insecurity in the states, especially the herdsmen crisis, were discussed.

The President also met with the Ooni of Ife, Imperial Majesty, Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja 11 in his residence on Tuesday night.

The meeting with the governors and the monarch was centered on the security concerns in South West.

The meeting is coming few days after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State gave quit notice to herdsmen operating at the state’s forest reserve, which led to a peace meeting between the national leadership of Miyetti Allah and the South-West governors.

Recall that a Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemi, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, on Friday, January 22, stormed the town in Ibarapa East local government area of Oyo state after the expiration his seven-day ultimatum to the Fulani herders mandating them to vacate the community.

Newsflash recalled that the secessionist had a week ago visited the community to issue quit notice to herdsmen residents in the area after accusing them of perpetrating criminal activities.

He was reportedly said to have insisted that Seriki, a popular herder, must leave the town, saying so many people fingered him to be behind the insecurity in the area.

Photographs released by President Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on his Facebook page in the early hours of Wednesday, showed images of the meeting held behind closed doors.

The President’s ADC, Col ML Abubakar, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, were in attendance.

An aide to the monarch told newsmen that the Ooni told the President, on Tuesday night, the positions of traditional rulers in South-West on the activities of the herdsmen.

According to the aide, who prefers anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press on the matter, Ooni told the president about the damage done by some criminal herders in Yorubaland.

He also told the president about steps taken by traditional rulers to ensure peace in the region.

Reacting to the pictures that surfaced online after the meeting, he said, “Yes, they met.

The meeting was supposed to have held before now but it was postponed till early next month for some reasons. They had to meet again because of the latest development in Yorubaland involving herdsmen.

“They also discussed other important national issues. Kabiesi will give details later.”
