BREAKING: Bandits attack Katsina community; kill DPO, Army officer

The Divisional Police Officer in Jibia town in Jibia local government has been killed by bandits in an encounter with the criminal groups who stormed Magamar Jibia in the late hours of Tuesday.

The slain security operative, A. A. Rano, was until his death the officer in charge of the Divisional Police Headquarters in Jibia, eyewitnesses told Newsflash Nigeria on Wednesday.

Similarly, it is being reported that another junior army officer was also killed and the army commander in the area sustained a gunshot.

These happened in a midnight operation when the joint security teams responded to a distress call by the Magamar Jibia community when the criminals stormed the area with heavy gunshots.

This is coming just days after another attack was carried out last Wednesday at Daddara village just about 20 kilometres to Jibia.

It was confirmed that over five people were killed and many taken captive by the bandits during the last Wednesday attack.

Jibia local government has been among the most hit by the bandits due to its geography and one of the busiest land borders in the North.
