BREAKING: APC Pegs Presidential Form At 100 Million; Vests Power On NWC For 90 Days

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has opened the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for members wishing to contest in the 2023 general elections.

The forms will go on sale from today, April 20, 2022.

The party made this known in a communique issued at the end of its 11th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the communique signed by the APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Mohammad Arugungu, the party has pegged the price of the form for the presidential election at N100 million.

The prices of forms for other elective positions are Governor, N50 million; Senate, N20 million; House of Representatives, N10 million, and House of Assembly, N2 million.

A breakdown of the cost of the forms shows that the expression of interest form for presidential aspirants is N30 million while the nomination form is N70 million, making a total of N100 million.

The expression of interest form for the governorship election is N10 million, and the nomination form is N40 million, bringing the total sum to N50 million.

For the Senatorial election, the expression of interest form goes for N3 million while the nomination form is N17 million.

Aspirants seeking election into the House of Representatives will pick expression of interest forms with the sum of N1 million, while the nomination form goes for N9 million.

Expression of interest and nomination forms for the state house of assembly election is N500,000 and N1.5 million respectively.

The APC NEC approved a 40 per cent reduction in nomination fees for youths aged 35 years below for various elective positions.

The APC NEC also approved female aspirants and persons with disability (PWD) aspirants are to purchase the expression form while nomination forms are free for various elective positions.

The APC NEC, which approved electoral guidelines for the conduct of primary elections, also approved the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2023 general elections.

The APC also National Executive Committee (NEC) resolved to vest the powers on the National Working Committee (NWC) for the next three months.

This motion is moved by the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan and seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila at the meeting on Wednesday.

Present at the meeting was President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu and other party members

The President is presiding over the 11th meeting of the NEC.

Senator Lawan pledged total commitment and support to the party saying insecurity in Nigeria grew over the years and did not emerge from the present administration.

He however assured that given the enormous investment to tackle insecurity, the situation will abate before the end of the President’s tenure in office.

Also addressing the committee, the National Chairman of the party said the meeting is the first the National Working Committee will be having with the NEC and will begin the process by uniting aggrieved members as well as discussing upcoming elections.

Adamu also encouraged members to uphold exemplary behaviours, according to him, the party’s intrinsic problem is the crisis fueled by ego.

The National Chairman called for a discontinuation of the present rancour within the party because according to him there is no reason for the competition.
